Barnsley boss Keith Hill has made his first swoop into the January transfer market, signing Scunthorpe striker Chris Dagnall for an undisclosed fee.
Dagnall, 25, played for Hill at Rochdale and has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year Oakwell deal.
However, he cannot make his debut for the Reds against Swansea City on Saturday, due to being cup-tied.
Said Hill: “Chris works hard, is full of energy and can score goals too. I’m sure he can become a big hit with the Barnsley supporters.”
Dagnall is likely to make his debut in the league game at Leicester on Saturday week.
Meanwhile, Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater is poised to sign an extended loan deal until the end of the season. He could well feature against the Swans on Saturday.
But both Danny Haynes and Nathan Doyle are set to leave, with Doyle talking over a move to League rOne Preston, where he was been on loan.
Former Barnsley loan player Kieran Trippier has signed for Burnley for an undisclosed fee from Manchester City.
