Former Chief Constable eyes Commissioner post

South Yorkshire’s former Chief Constable Med Hughes has revealed he wants to become the county’s new Police and Crime Commissioner.

Mr Hughes, who retired from South Yorkshire Police in October, after seven years at the helm, has put his nomination in to become the Labour Party’s candidate for the job.

The election for the new position is to take place in November.
