Luke Forgione and his colleagues aims to get Barnsley’s men and women on the right road to a healthy lifestyle.
Luke is part of the PSS Health Trainer Service which is geared towards improving health in the Barnsley community.
And after the tremendous success of Fit Reds, which was aimed towards overweight men and led to most participants losing weight and lowering blood pressure, the service has come up with two more exciting initiatives: Fit Wags and Barnsley Men’s Health Group (see posters above and below).
These are both groups that are aimed at improving healthy lifestyles.
The Health Trainers can also work one-to-one to support encourage and motivate people to change their lifestyle.
Luke, who in his spare time also plays a high standard of non-league football with Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, explained: “We can help you set goals and develop a personal health plan, understand the barriers you faced in the past and offer realistic solutions and continually review your progress over a 12 week period.
“Not only that but we accompany you on your journey to better health.
“We have undergone intensive training and keep up to date with the latest local and national health information.”
Health Trainers also work with:
Individuals who need support to change their lifestyle before they develop a long term condition
Individuals who have a long term condition but could benefit from lifestyle changes.
Anybody 16+ who lives in Barnsley.
It is a free, confidential, non-judgemental service.
