Young man named in fatal Barnsley collision

A 21-year-old man who sadly died following a collision on the A616 bypass between Wortley and Tankersley last Friday (February 10th), has been named as Reece Parkin.

At around 10.10am on Friday morning it was reported that two cars, a blue Vauxhall Astra and a white Mercedes van, were involved in a collision with each other.

Mr Parkin, who was driving the Vauxhall Astra, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes van, a 42-year-old man, was taken to hospital following the collision. His injuries were not serious.

Police are currently investigating the incident and would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened, or saw either of the cars prior to the collision.
