Barnsley have announced a series of pre-season fixtures as they build up to a demanding second campaign in the Championship.
They kick-off with two away fixtures, taking on National League opponents Guiseley Town on Tuesday, 11 July (7.30pm) and then heading to League Two side Grimsby Town four days later for a Saturday afternoon re-union with former striker and Under 23 coach Paul Wilkinson, who is now on the Mariners’ coaching staff.
The following week, Tuesday 18 July (7.45pm) they entertain Coventry City, who were relegated to League Two at the end of last season, and a week later (7.30pm) they complete their four-match build-up with a trip to Rochdale.
Said head coach Paul Heckingbottom (pictured): “We’ve kept the games relatively local, which gives fans an opportunity to watch the players in action, and I am pleased about that. It’s a testing schedule that will give the lads the work-out they need ahead of the season starting.”
- It is expected that more pre-season matches will be arranged.
