Norwich City have agreed a deal to sign Barnsley forward Marley Watkins on a free transfer.
Watkins, 26, made 42 Championship appearances for the Reds last term. He is the first signing made by Norwich’s new head coach Daniel Farke.
Watkins, who netted 10 goals and delivered nine assists for the Oakwell outfit last season, has agreed a three year deal with the Canaries, with the club having the option of a fourth, and the player will officially join on Saturday, July 1.
Speaking exclusively to canaries.co.uk, Watkins said: “Norwich is a club with ambitions to be in the Premier League so I’m really happy to have made this decision.
“Everything is in place at Norwich to be successful. I’m really excited to be joining a project at a team whose ambitions match my own.”
Farke also told the club’s official website: “Marley played brilliantly last season and is proven at this level. He can play either as a forward or on the wing. He’s physical and a good character who gives us another option in attack.”
