Ed Byrne to Stand Up at The Civic

The Civic is to host a top comedy act as Ed Byrne comes to Barnsley town centre for side-splitting observational comedy.

Ed (pictured) returns to the road this year with his biggest ever tour to date and his brand new show Spoiler Alert.

He says; “I originally intended to call the show “I’ll Millennial You in a Minute”, but my promoter considered the title “off-puttingly baffling.”

The Sunday Times described it as “a masterful display of the comics art –  a seamless and perfectly timed show”

Ed is recognised as one of the finest observational comics in the industry and his television credits are countless (provided you’re really bad at counting): Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You, The Graham Norton Show, Live At The Apollo, The One Show, Comic Relief Bake Off 2015, The World’s Most Dangerous Roads and, most recently, he and Dara O Briain filmed the follow up to their Big Adventure show for BBC2 entitled Dara and Ed’s Road to Mandalay, coming to the BBC soon.

In this show, Ed explores the thin line between righteous complaining and brat-like whining and asks, ‘are we right to be fed up, or are we spoiled?’

You are invited to come and watch as Byrne takes this question, turns it upside down and shakes it until the funny falls out.

As the Edinburgh Festival Magazine proclaimed: “Hilarious anecdotes! l assure you Ed Byrne is one comedian you should DEFINITELY see

Ed is in good company. As the nights draw in The Civic has plenty of comedy to brighten things up including Harry and Chris who bring their unique mix of comedy, melody, poetry and best-matery to town after last year’s sell-out run of their debut show in Edinburgh.

Ranging from pandas in crisis to Robot Wars, they bring love and laughter to a world that needs both more than ever.

‘A combination of catchy hooks and breath-taking verbal ingenuity makes this a winning hour… The quality and quantity of laughs on offer is generous and yet the show is cynicism-free, the tone unapologetically feel-good’ – Broadway Baby

Look out for more top acts in the centre of town this season with the likes of Dave Spikey, Justin Moorhouse, James Acaster and Henning Wehn all coming to The Civic.
