As the time trialling season draws to a close and the hill climb season starts, there were some notable performances from Birdwell Wheelers last weekend.
On Saturday a three-man team of Dan Taylor, Trevor Mayne and Paul Mason rode in the Rutland CC 10 Mile Open Time Trial at Hatfield Woodhous, Taylor tied for 1st place in 21m 13s, with Mayne 15th in 22m 11s and Mason 17th in 22m 16s. Their combined time for the event was good enough for 1st in the team competition as well.
Sunday saw the second running of the double header Hill Climb organized by Stocksbridge CC.
In the morning event at New Mill Bank, Ewden, Trevor Mayne was 23rd in 3m 22.6s and Chris Jenkins, in his first Open event, was 32nd in 4m 02.2s. Jenkins then went on to the afternoon climb up the daunting Pea Royd hill at Stocksbridge and finished in 4m 12.2s.
This Sunday’s club run is to iconic Hill Climb at Monsal Head in Derbyshire.
