Birdwell Wheeler Dan Taylor clinched overall victory by just one point in the North Midland District’s final Open Time Trial of the season last Saturday..
Coming in to the 10-mile event, run by the VTTA (N Midland Veteran Time Trial Association) at Staveley, Taylor (pictured) was leading the J E James Time Trial series by the slender margin of four points.
On the day he finished 6th in 21m 32s which was good enough to clinch victory in the series by just one point – the same margin by which he missed out on first place for the last two years!
Wheelers Paul Mason (22m 10s) and Trevor Mayne (22m 15s) finished 9th and 10th respectively which meant that the three- man team clinched the team award, and Tom Booth was also first Junior.
On Sunday Paul Heggie rode the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 25 Mile Open Time Trial at Dishforth and finished in 1h 2m 7s which placed him 41st in a field of 66 riders and set a new club age record at 64 years old.
This Sunday’s club run is to Carburton, meet at 9.00am at Brewers Fayre roundabout Wombwell.
