Barnsley goalkeeper Nick Townsend has joined National League side Solihull Moors on a one month loan.
Having arrived from Birmingham City in 2015, the 22-year-old has made only eight first team appearances due to the consistency of Adam Davies. and head coach Paul Heckingbottom explained on the Oakwell website the reasoning behind the move.
“During pre-season friendlies and in the Under 23s this campaign Nick has made a string of quality saves and has shown his capability to be an excellent goalkeeper.
“Being on the bench isn’t going to help him improve. He needs games. So we couldn’t deny him this opportunity. We think a lot of him as a ‘keeper and his attitude has been first class for someone who has had to watch such a lot of football from the sidelines.
“He’s also a Birmingham lad, so to go to Solihull and be close to come while gaining experience is good for him and us.”
The Oakwell Club also has an option of instant recall.
