Ainsworth foiled in valiant course record bid

Greg Godley was 1st fastest for Birdwell on the night in a time of 12′ 30″, with Mark Peasgood taking 1st Handicap prize with a time of 10′ 46″.
Keith Ainsworth made a valiant attempt to beat the course record, but had to make do with a great time of 10′ 31 in slightly windy conditions.
Members have a break for the Bank Holiday week but events resume on the 5th June with the first of three events around the testing Thurnscoe-Hickleton circuit, 54 laps in all for a total of 15 miles. This series of events brings something different for time triallists to have a go at.
Last Sunday 10 riders enjoyed the sunshine and rode out to Retford, after this long hard, cold winter. Taking part were Roger Bacon, Chris Jenkins, Roger Senior, Steve Myatt, Paul Mynett, Phil Adams and Marc Peasegood, plus guest appearances from David Scargill and Joe Woodhouse. 70 miles total achieved and thanks go to ace navigator Steve Myatt.
