Versatility is the long and short of it for Mayne

Last Saturday, Birdwell Wheeler Trevor Mayne rode the Tickhill Velo CC 10 Mile Open Time Trial at Hatfield Woodhouse. His time of 22m 26s at a speed of 27.6 mph placed him 21st overall.

On Tuesday the club’s first of two club Hill Climbs took place up America Lane at Brampton Bierlow. Seven club members rode and Mayne showed his versatility over long and short distances by recording the fastest time of 3m 30.2s.

The second one takes place next Tuesday up Well Hill Road to Green Moor. First rider is off at 7:01pm and signing on is from 6:30pm. Visitors are welcome. The club’s only Open Hill Climb of the year takes place on the same course on Sunday 26th August.

On Sunday Steve Myatt, Philip Stewart Adams, Tina Oates, Chris Jenkins, Tony Lodge, Roger Bacon, Austin D Watson and visitor Dean Clement beat the forecast rain on an 80 mile round trip to Goole.

This Sunday a number of the club’s members are riding the Barnsley Boundary Heroes Ride.
