Barnsley MP pays ‘a sobering visit’ to sexual abuse and rape charity

Stephanie Peacock, Member of Parliament for Barnsley East, recently met with Barnsley Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Services.

The charity, based in Barnsley town centre, offers a range of support to survivors of sexual abuse and violence, including counselling and well-being services as well as online text and email services.

Stephanie met the charity to discuss their work and ways she can support them in delivering support services in future.

She said: “Sadly sexual abuse and violence are still far too commonplace in our society today, and it’s always sobering to visit charities such as BSARCS.

“I’ll always support charities such as BSARCS and their important work to support survivors in any way I can.

“As we move into 2019, I believe we must all reaffirm our commitment to eliminating these vile crimes from our society.”
