Last Sunday saw the sixth running of Birdwell Wheelers’ Audax event over a 65-mile route which took in climbs of Holme Moss, the Snake pass and Jawbone Hill at Oughtibridge, a climb which featured when the Tour de France started in Yorkshire.
Forty-seven riders set of from Birdwell Community Centre in the sunshine. Wheelers Trevor Mayne, Rob Parkes, Austin Watson, Marc Peasgood, Chris Jenkins, Steve Myatt and Phil Adams were joined by riders from as far afield as Lincoln and Tamworth.
The first rider back in 4hours 20 mins was Mark Hudson, from Sheffield, and all riders returned by 4 o’clock, well within the cut off time of 17:55.
The Sunday club run leaves Brewers Fayre roundabout Wombwell at 9am. Destination to be decided. Visitors are welcome.
