Last five miles costly for Heggie in National Championship

Last Saturday Birdwell Wheeler Paul Heggie rode in the VTTA (Veteran Time Trial Association) National 50 mile Championship over two laps of mainly traffic free B roads near Pocklington in East Yorkshire.

He completed the first 25 miles in 1h 7m 35s but faded in the last 5 miles to finish in 2h 19m 46s, which placed him 62nd of 80 finishers and 55th on handicap.

The next day, on the weekly club run, Steve Myatt, Philip Stewart Adams, Chris Jenkins, Rodger Holmes and Austin D Watson rode a 70 mile loop to Sherburn in Elmet.

Three Wheelers – Dave Hudson, Marc Peasgood and Rob Parkes – last week completed an epic tour of the Italian Alps and Dolomites covering over 500 miles in the week and climbing 10,000 metres, including the famous 14-mile long climb of the Stelvio pass.

This Sunday’s club run leaves Brewers Fayre roundabout Wombwell at 9am. Visitors are welcome.
